Hello! Welcome to my class. I am blessed to be teaching Language Arts courses with ACE High School this year. This is my first year with Okmulgee Public Schools and my fourth as an Oklahoma educator. I have always enjoyed the art of writing, and I will never turn down a good book. I am 2006 graduate of Dewar High School, where I first fell in love with everything pertaining to English class. The Lord led me to pursue a career in education, and although I love all children, I believe that I was called to work with high school students. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education-English from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2011. Rather than jumping straight into teaching, I elected to move to West Virginia to pursue my Master of Education to become a certified Reading Specialist.
I love to challenge my students to think critically and creatively. The English language is a beautiful medium that I strongly encourage everyone to explore. Students can expect to write a variety of works in my classroom: essays, personal reflections, poetry, etc. I believe students learn best when they are offered choices for success. Therefore, I will always provide a diverse selection of writing assignments and literature to my classes.
I married my husband Jesse in August, 2013. We were blessed to welcome our daughter, Payton Caroline, into the world in January, 2015. We have four dogs and a snake, which allow for plenty of memories to take place in our home. We enjoy traveling, especially to zoological parks around the country, and hope to start one of our own some day. My family attends Life.Church in Jenks.
