Skyleen Willingham

OHS Class of 75

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Okmulgee High School. I am teaching biology, environmental science,  and competitive speech this year.

The Speech team had an awesome  year last year with a National Qualifier. Braydon traveled to Birmingham, AL to compete with 3,000 students. He ended up 52nd in the nation.

We are almost finished with the refit of the green house and it will be used in all life science classes this year. Labs will be almost every Wednesday and Thursday. Those are our block days where we have half our classes for twice as long. This gives us time to teach those labs we didnt have time for in the shorter periods. This year all Juniors will take a mandated science test at the end of the year that covers 50% physical science and 50% life science.

Students are given a course syllabus and safety contract for lab activities upon entry to the class. A copy of each syllabus has been copied to the Syllabus page of my website. They are also asked to fill out an information page so I can reach you throughout the year.

I believe that every child can learn and science is the most exciting discipline to learn. It is my hope that every student leave the class I teach at the end of the year with a better understanding of the world in which they live and a better ability to perform well on any science assessment they face in their future.

Please contact me is you have questions or suggestions about your student's success in my class. You can e-mail me at swillingham@okmulgeeps.com or call before school, after school, lunch, or my planning period (2nd hour) at 918-758-2075, ext. 3969.

Heres hoping we all have a great school year.
